This violin masterclass at a distance activity started in June 2003 as a cooperation between the International Violin Course of the Särestö Academy and the Young Artist Program (YAP) of Canada's National Arts Centre's. Maestro Pinchas Zukerman offers his services in cooperation with Canadian NRC and CRC. On the Finnish side the International Centre of Chamber Music, Virtuosi is an associate partner in the Canadian MusicGrid Project, which is being run by John Spence and Martin Brooks.
The Canadian-Finnish project enhances violin net education by a method of asynchronic learning, defined in collaboration with Pinchas Zukerman. The considerations of Maestro Zukerman are presented in an article dedicated to the theme: Violin Masterclasses — Asynchronically.
This is an archive of the outcome of the Särestö violin courses held in June 2004 in Levi, Lapland. Pinchas Zukerman produced his answers from Canada with the assistance of Martin Brooks from the National Research Council. The Finnish crew consisted of sound engineer Timo Haverinen and the producer Philip Donner from Virtuosi, and Maarit Rajamäki from the Särestö Academy.
