Philip Donner's comments on take 2

These comments are based on the second simulation session on 19-10-2003 with MIDI VC Assistant (build 33). Although most issues were immediately visible from the material, the observations were written after having used the material a number of times.

• The recording exposes that the enlarged and self-blanking cursor, which works in the maximized window, is not functional in the full screen mode.
• For some reason, the sections which display the video signal from the PC don't occupy the full screen. Tandberg 800 leaves some 5-10 % of the margins black. Although this creates vasted bandwidth, it has an obvious advantage: A TV screen will show all the computer graphics.
• Thin vertical lines and graphical updates tend to produce undesired color shades. Some of these may still be reduced by optimizing drawing code.
• It seems quite obvious that synchronisation between audio and video is poor. It seems that the compressed graphics leaves the vc unit later than the sound. A tighter integration can easily be achieved by delaying the MIDI controlled synthesizer.
