After a fresh installation NetMeeting will prompt you with a number of noisy alert boxes. One of these notifies you about version differences among conference members. If you are not especially interested in this particular feature, it is convenient to disable the notification by checking the relevant box.

It is, however, advisable to ensure that you have the most recent version of the program. Use one of the methods suggested in the 'Version Check' topic to determine your version. If it is lower than 3.0 you should update to the current one.

Users of Windows 98 and Internet Explorer 4.01 (for Windows 95 or NT) can find the installation files on their setup disks. It is also possible to download the program suite from the Microsoft NetMeeting Site. Downloading is a foolproof way of ensuring best possible compatibility.

You should also check that you have all the necessary support modules. Windows 95 users need to install DirectX 5 to achieve acceptable audio performance. This package can also be downloaded from the above NM support site.

NT 4.0 Workstations will strongly benefit from the installation of Service Pack 6, which is available at the Microsoft download area.
